EV Charger Installation in Hemel Hempstead
Hemel Hempstead is one of the busiest areas I cover for EV charger installation. The mix of properties across HP1, HP2 and HP3 — from the Georgian townhouses of Old Town to the post-war estates of Adeyfield and the newer builds on the Gade Valley development — means every job has its own cabling challenge. I'm experienced across all of them and price each installation transparently upfront.
New Town Hemel (HP2 and HP3) is characterised by the Sixties and Seventies estates designed by the Hemel Hempstead Development Corporation, many of which have garages and off-street parking as standard. These properties are generally straightforward installations — the consumer unit is often in the kitchen or utility, and the route to the garage or driveway is short. Prices in these cases tend to come in at the lower end of our range.
Old Town (HP1) is a different story. Georgian and Victorian properties on the High Street and surrounding roads can have older consumer units that need assessing before an EV charger circuit can be added. Sometimes a consumer unit upgrade is needed first — I'll let you know upfront if that's the case and quote accordingly. I won't start a job I can't complete safely.
I'm OZEV-approved, which means I can apply for the EV Chargepoint Grant on your behalf. The grant covers up to £350 for eligible homeowners — it's reduced from the previous £500 but still well worth claiming. Many Hemel residents also use the Octopus Intelligent or British Gas EV tariffs to charge overnight for around 7p/kWh, and every charger I install is compatible with those tariffs.
